Band compositions

You can read the scene before a model does. Compositions put three bands into red, green and blue, or compute a spectral index, over the area from any acquisition in the window.

The composition board: seven composites and indices of one area stacked on the globe, beside the run wired as cards: area, period, scene, composite, bands and stretch
FIG. 01Seven products of one scene stacked over an area in Tocantins, from false colour to NDMI, with the run wired as cards.

Four presets

  • True colour: B04 · B03 · B02
  • False colour IR: B08 · B04 · B03, where healthy vegetation turns bright red
  • Agriculture: B11 · B08 · B02
  • SWIR: B12 · B8A · B04

Each preset is only a starting point. Any three bands can be sent to red, green and blue, with the stretch set by percentile.

Or an index

Switch the composite from RGB to Index and the same run computes a spectral index over the scene instead, NDVI, EVI, NDWI and NDMI among them. Each result is a layer of its own, so several can be stacked over the same area and read against each other.

Beside the result

Composites share the overlay tools with the prediction, so a classification can be swiped against the scene it came from.

!Current constraints

  • A composite is a picture for reading, not a measurement. The stretch changes how it looks, not what the sensor recorded.
